Shujinko Glen Waverley is located at The Glen Shopping Centre on Springvale Road, in the alfresco dining precinct. The restaurant serves authentic Tokyo-style tonkotsu ramen made fresh from a 12-hour pork bone broth, alongside miso ramen, tsukemen, rice bowls, gyoza, karaage, and Japanese drinks.

The kitchen runs the same broth process and menu as every Shujinko location. Fresh ingredients sourced daily, broth never rushed, every bowl built from scratch. The space is relaxed with room for families and groups, and it’s a go-to for locals across Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Wheelers Hill, and the wider Monash area.

Popular Ramen Dishes in Glen Waverley

Every bowl starts with the same 12-hour tonkotsu broth and is built to order with daily-sourced ingredients. These are the dishes Glen Waverley has made its own.

The local favourite at Glen Waverley. Karakuchi-spiced tonkotsu broth that balances heat and rich pork bone flavour without one overpowering the other. Regulars here order this more than any other spiced bowl on the menu, especially through winter.

The signature. 12-hour pork bone broth, aburi pork belly, marinated egg, bean shoots, scallion, black fungus, and seaweed. If this is your first visit, start here.

Stir-fried ramen with house-soy sauce, smoked pork, and seasonal vegetables. No broth on this one. It’s a completely different experience from the soup-based bowls, and Glen Waverley regulars call it out as a standout you might not think to order but should.

Karaage chicken and aburi pork belly over rice with pickles, salad, and house-soy sauce. The most popular rice bowl at this location. Choose your sauce: mayo, chilli mayo, wasabi mayo, or tonkatsu.

This is always our go-to place whenever we’re craving ramen. The food is consistently amazing, and the staff are just as wonderful, friendly, welcoming, and attentive.

A special shoutout to Jen (I hope I spelled her name correctly). She was absolutely fantastic, warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Her excellent customer service truly stood out and made our dining experience even better. This place is fortunate to have someone like her on their team.

We’ll definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommended!🍜♥️

I honestly don’t understand the hype around this place. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen expecting authentic Japanese ramen and got one of the worst bowls of ramen I’ve ever had.

The broth was loaded with oil and ridiculously salty. The pork was bland, dry and tasted like it had been thrown in as an afterthought. The only thing worth eating was the soft-boiled egg, which was a solid 9/10. Everything else was terrible.

The second photo shows exactly how much I left behind. I hardly touched it because it was garbage. I hate wasting food, but there was no way I was forcing myself to finish it.

I’d genuinely rather eat a packet of Maggi 2 Minute Noodles. They have more flavour, cost a fraction of the price, and are far more enjoyable than whatever this was supposed to be.

If you’re after authentic Japanese ramen, don’t waste your money here. There are far better places that actually know how to make ramen.

One of the best tonkotsu ramen I’ve had. The broth was smooth, comforting, and just right for my taste. Every ingredient tasted fresh, especially the chashu and the perfectly cooked egg. Great food and a pleasant dining experience. Will definitely visit again!

Presentation was beautiful, and the ramen tasted just as good as it looked.

Very average and below average fare. Not at all authentic ramen bowls and very measly add-ons. Black ramen bowl far too salty and pork miso had little flavour. Gyoza were tiny. Prawns were only ok. Also too $$ exxy for what it was.

We come here quite often for lunch. The ramen and rice dishes are always good and the place is comfortable. We came today with the 40% promotion which was great value. This place definitely deserves more than 4 stars.

Really enjoyed this place. The ramen was tasty, not too salty, and very comforting. Clean restaurant, nice vibe, and quick service. Great option if you’re at The Glen and craving ramen.

We come here pretty often, especially when we start to miss Japan. I always enjoy the ramen here as it feels more authentic compared to other ramen chains here. Service is fast! Pictured is the Black Tonkotsu Ramen which is my favourite!

One of my fav local ramen places, came here craving rice dish. Food was amazing, I got pork tonkatsu and definitely hit the spot. Only but let down you have to pay extra for the egg. Usually it’s included. But very yummy food anyway🤞

This is one of the smaller stores in the franchise however it has a great location at the entrance to the shopping mall surrounded by a number of other great restaurants. Being a smaller store means that you may have to wait for a seat in peak times. I should also mention that this location has also lost its alcohol licence and that soft drinks is your only beverage option other than water unlike the Russel st location which has a beverage menu including beers, wines and cocktails making the experience feel like a proper night out.
I understand that this is a mid range casual dining experience but with prices of eating out drastically increasing, it makes sense to make each meal feel special.
The food is great. The entré menu may be smaller than other Melbourne based izakayas and Ramen restaurants, but includes most Japanese favourites. We had Karaage, edamame, takoyaki, gyoza and croquette. All of which were fantastic but these came out after our Ramen was already at the table. This issue may have been worse if the location was licensed as these are great appetizers with beers.
The Ramen is good. I think mostly a miso or salt based broth, however I ordered the Volcano which adds some heat to the broth. The toppings can be doubled for under $10 however this allowed the Nori sheets to be added to the soup at all, where I would have expected these would be a base item. Ultimately, there are not alot of base topping for a $20 bowl of noodles, and that’s disappointing considering how moorish the Ramen is.

I think this is a great franchise and that this restaurant is an ok example of that, but considering the quality of the Thai restaurant next door and other Japanese restaurants in the area, you may be better if with another store or travelling into Melbourne CBD location of Shujinko, which is only another 15 minutes for those coming in from the south eastern corridor.

Frequently Asked Questions - Shujinko Glen Waverley

Shujinko Glen Waverley is at 235 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley VIC 3150, inside The Glen Shopping Centre’s alfresco dining precinct. The Glen offers over 3,100 car parking spaces with the first 3 hours free. The car park uses a ticketless licence plate recognition system, so you don’t need to take a ticket on entry. If you stay beyond 3 hours, you can pay at a pay station before you leave. Entry is available via Springvale Road, Snedden Drive, or High Street Road.

The Shujinko Karakuchi Ramen is the local favourite at this location. It’s a karakuchi-spiced tonkotsu broth that balances heat and rich pork bone flavour without one overpowering the other. The signature Shujinko Tonkotsu Ramen is the most ordered overall, and the Yakisoba Ramen is a broth-free stir-fried option that Glen Waverley regulars specifically recommend. If you handle heat well, the Volcano Ramen is the spiciest bowl on the menu.

Yes. Glen Waverley is one of the more spacious Shujinko locations with room for families and larger groups. Children are welcome. Popular options for younger diners include the Karaage Don (fried chicken over rice), Shujinko Gyoza, and the Tonkotsu Ramen with milder flavours. You can also ask for noodles without the spicier toppings.

Tonkotsu ramen uses a broth made from slow-cooking pork bones for over 12 hours. It’s rich, creamy, and deeply savoury. Miso ramen uses a broth flavoured with fermented soybean paste, which gives it a heartier, slightly tangy flavour. Both are available at Glen Waverley. The Tonkotsu is Shujinko’s signature, while the Pork Miso Ramen is popular during cooler months.

Yes. Delivery is available through DoorDash and Uber Eats from this location. Broth and noodles are packed separately so the ramen arrives properly. Takeaway is also available at the counter. Delivery hours may differ slightly from dine-in hours.

Start with the Shujinko Tonkotsu Ramen. It’s the signature dish, the most ordered bowl across all locations, and the best way to experience what Shujinko does. Add a side of Shujinko Gyoza. If you like spice, try the Karakuchi instead. If you want something completely different, the Yakisoba Ramen is a broth-free stir-fried option that Glen Waverley regulars love.

Shujinko specialises in Tokyo-style tonkotsu ramen, a rich and creamy broth made by slow-cooking pork bones for over 12 hours. The Glen Waverley menu includes eight ramen options: the signature Shujinko Tonkotsu, Karakuchi (spiced tonkotsu), Black Ramen (smoky bonito and tonkotsu blend), Volcano Ramen (the spiciest option), Pork Miso Ramen, Miso Vegetable Ramen, Mushroom Vegetable Ramen, and Yakisoba Ramen (stir-fried, no broth). Beyond ramen, the menu includes Japanese rice bowls, gyoza, karaage, takoyaki, katsu, and Japanese drinks.
